Research summary
The proposed research project primarily seeks to investigate the impact of green spaces on people’s moods. It will also investigate personal views on Recovery and attitudes towards the concept of green care in the NHS.\n\nThe proposed intervention will be a roughly 2 mile walk with minimal height gain. A control group will be walking along an urban street, while the active experimental group will be walking along an immersive forestry path.\n\nParticipants will be recruited from mental health services. They will be asked to fill in two brief quantitative questionnaires (Positive and Negative Affect Schedule extended version – PANAS X and ReQoL) both before and after the intervention. Additional qualitative questions on recovery and green space will be asked only once post intervention.\n\nThe entire intervention should last around 2 hours (20 minutes for pre-intervention survey, 60 minutes for a group walk and 40 minutes post intervention repeated survey and additional questions). The phone call follow up for the second survey will take an additional 15 minutes. Participants will each be compensated £20 in vouchers for their time.\n
