  • Research summary

The purpose of this study is to measure the feasibility and acceptability of providing oral emergency contraception via a new internet-based sexual and reproductive health service - Sexual Health 24 (SH:24).\n\nSH:24 aims to expand access to sexual health and contraception in Lambeth and Southwark. It is funded by Guy’s and St.Thomas’ Charity and is in the second year of it’s four year development process. SH:24 will soon launch internet-based emergency contraception delivery. \n\nTo measure feasibility, time from unprotected sexual intercourse to receiving emergency contraception will be recorded for users of the internet-based services and compared to a sample of routinely collected case notes from a selection of local sexual and reproductive health services and pharmacies. Data will be collected in parallel. In addition, those users of the internet-based service who consent to follow-up will be asked to complete a telephone questionnaire to provide additional data on their experience of the service including measures of acceptability.\n
