  • Research summary

This project aims to explore the factors that may lead to adverse events in the surgical ward setting by interviewing both ward staff and patients. This study will be based around a semi-structured interview protocol. This means a protocol with a pre-determined set of questions exploring this area will be used. However, there will be enough flexibility within interviews to allow the interviewee to provide information that would be deemed pertinent to the topic being discussed. This information will then be used to classify the different factors and determine if they can be measured. This will then allow for the development of a risk assessment dashboard that can be used on wards in the future to determine the inherent safety risk in that environment.
