Research summary
As medical science progresses, the number of people living with multiple chronic illnesses is growing. The management of these people is being increasingly reviewed and planned for by health services, but there is little focus on how living in this way impacts those concerned. This study uses semi-structured interviews to gain insight into the way people cope with the management of their illnesses, frequent visits to medical professionals and treatment. By gaining insight into their perspective, it may be possible to provide the type of care and support that would help them most. The group being studied is people with stage 3 heart failure as well as at least two other chronic illnesses.
