Research summary
The study aims to explore the experiences of parents whose children have required ECLS. ECLS is a life-saving therapy, with a wealth of research and information available in the medical field, but little information is known about parental experience.
As treatment with ECLS increases, and outcomes improve, nursing and medical staff need to provide attentive communication to parents.
Parents will be interviewed to discover more about their experiences and find out if there is anything we can do to improve the overall experience for children and their families.
The study will concentrate on asking parents who have had children supported on ECLS between January 2013 to December 2016 and survived. The project will aim to recruit 6-8 participants and be submitted to Wolverhampton University by September 2017 for completion of MSC NursingREC name
