Research summary
Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis (DIE) describes the growth of tissue which normally lines the inside of the womb in abnormal locations: commonly the bowels, bladder and vagina. This causes severe pain whilst urinating, defaecating and at rest, which can only be definitively relieved by surgery. In Cambridgeshire, the symptoms of DIE patients are evaluated using the BSGE questionnaire which gives little weight to bowel and bladder symptoms. As such, this study will investigate the efficacy of an alternative questionnaire, the ePAQ-PF(R), in tracking symptomatic improvements in bowel and bladder function following therapeutic laparoscopy for DIE.
