Research summary
Patient centred care is at the heart of quality care that is focused on the person and ensures that their voice, their concerns are not only heard and acted upon, but that their experience is of safe effective care with dignity and respect. As a patient centred approach, NRTF has been shown to be effective in improving staff and patient communication and that it creates a culture of responsibility and challenge with staff being able to respond and act positively to patients and this enables a more positive experience for both patients and staff (2, 3).
Despite patient centred care being recognised as a fundamental approach and there is evidence that NRTF improves patient experience and outcomes, there is a limited understanding of why NRTF works in certain settings and why efforts to imbed NRTF routinely into practice have shown a lack of sustainability over time. This study will further build understanding and inform future practice.REC name
