Research summary
The BODY-Q is a new patient reported outcome measure (PROM)developed to measure satisfaction and quality of life among body contouring surgery patients. The objective of this study is to field-test the BODY-Q scales in the UK. Once tested, the BODY-Q will provide the research community and clinicians with set of scales for use to measure patient outcomes. A sample of 300 NHS patients who have had body contouring surgery following massive weight loss will be asked to complete the scales. Patients will be sent the BODY-Q questionnaire in the mail. They will also receive up to 2 mailed followup reminders to ensure a high response rate. Patient responses to the questions will be analyzed to determine the best questions to include in the final version of each scale (item reduction) and to report on the acceptable, reliable and validity of the new scales (psychometric validation).
