Research summary
Research Summary
Prospective quantitative descriptive studyCross sectional survey to assess if anxiety scores improve in patients who have experienced perioperative anaphylaxis and have the cause identified in an Anaesthetic Allergy Clinic (AAC).
Summary of Results
Our data shows that attending the Anaesthetic Reaction Clinic following a Peri-operative anaphylaxis reduces anxiety for future surgery and anaesthesia in the majority of patients. This is most profound in females. We also noted that the group who had anaesthetic mediation identified as the culprit, had a greater reduction in anxiety scores than the other culprit groups. Larger studies would be needed to identify if any other groups had a greater impact than others.REC name
