Research summary
This study will aim to investigate whether there is a predictive relationship between the constructs of acceptance and quality of life (QoL) in a cancer population. In this study, quality of life will refer to measurements of the following constructs: anxiety, depression, avoidance, pain, distress and death anxiety. Acceptance in the context of this study means allowing thoughts to come and go without struggling against them. All constructs will be measured through the administration of a questionnaire to historical and current cancer patients, with an optional 3-month follow-up questionnaire, designed to capture any changes in levels of QoL and acceptance over time. Recruitment will take place both inside and outside of clinical settings, using both paper-based and online questionnaire formats to maximise recruitment potential and a broader range of participants (e.g. historical cancer patients are not likely to be targeted from within hospital settings, so online access would be more appropriate).
