  • Research summary

The Scottish Recovery Network (SRN) support and promote “Recovery” from mental health issues. Recovery is the unique individually defined experience of living life with or without symptoms of mental illness and focussing on personal strengths. SRN state that “people can and do recover” and that “anyone can do it”. WRAP workshops are all about recovery and self-management. The workshops are delivered by people who share how they manage their own mental health. This is done to help people recover.\n\nWRAP research shows people who complete WRAP have better levels of recovery. This study focusses on finding out more about how WRAP affects recovery. Past attendees of WRAP workshops will be asked questions, at one point in time, to see how different factors affect their recovery after WRAP. The factors chosen to be looked at are how people solve problems, how they live in line with their values and how they felt about the workshop group they were a part of. These factors were picked because of past research. They are factors that also bring about positive change, like recovery, and can help improve what is known about the way WRAP alters the attendee’s recovery.\n\nIt’s proposed that past attendees of WRAP workshops will be approached either through their WRAP facilitator or through online publicity by the SRN. If they are interested, they’ll be provided with participant information and a questionnaire or electronic-survey. The questions are multiple choice and will ask about general information, mental health, solving problems, living in line with values, WRAP and recovery. Completed questionnaires are then returned to the chief investigator in paper or online.\n
