Research summary
The aims of the programme are to develop and validate computerised screening measures of cognitive problems in brain injury and neurodegenerative patients that are an integral part of the rehabilitation and/or care pathway
The project involves (i) development of new cognitive screening measures (tablet based screening tools). (ii) These tests will be investigated with respect to reliability and validity measures as well as user interface experience. The project is carried out by the Cognitive Neuropsychology Centre, which is funded by the NIHR (Oxford Cognitive Health Clinical Research Facility).
This is an observational cross-sectional study . Participants will be in this study for a 6 month period, consisting of two initial brief (typically under 30 minutes) sessions whilst in the hospital and then a final 6 month follow up at home.
Data will be collected via a tablet computer and paper based tests.
We will consent a consecutive sample of patients <6 weeks after brain injury (who represent an early sub-acute sample). We will be recruiting at the John Radcliffe Hospital Stroke unit and Clinical Neurosciences Wardss
During this observational cross-sectional study, newly developed computerised versions of brief cognitive assessments were completed with stroke survivors alongside traditional pen and paper tests.
The results showed high convergence.
Has the registry been updated to include summary results?: No
If yes - please enter the URL to summary results:
If no – why not?: this was not a clinical trial, simply an observational study to validate neuropsychological computerised screening in stroke
