Research summary
The overall purpose of my work is to understand T-cells in health and disease. T-cells orchestrate immunity and protect us from infection. They can also eliminate cancer cells. T-cells can also have some negative effects as they are responsible for the acute rejection of transplanted organs and are believed to be the root cause of all autoimmune disease. We are interested in all these interconnected aspects of basic T-cell biology. Our rationale is to contribute to improve immunity to infection and understand the basic mechanisms of transplant rejection and autoimmune disease. Our end goals are to develop improved vaccines and improved cancer immunotherapies.
