  • Data collection arrangements

Imaging of suspected strokes and ICH:
fully anonymized MRI and CT images with radiology request and report, with scan time from patient symptom or admission onset.

This will be collected by and anonymized by health care professional researchers by exporting from PACS system.

Clinical info (with identifiable information removed):
presenting symptoms, NIHSS score, Modified Rankin score before admission and on discharge, treatment, diagnosis, clinical outcomes i.e. complications of stroke, cognitive testing score e.g. MOCA, AMTS, Age on admission in years

this will be collected and anonymized from internal stroke audit where possible, and from archived clinical notes otherwise

All imaging and clinical data stored by database subject ID. A separate spreadsheet only accessible to the chief investigator linking database ID to hospital number will be kept. Subject link on database will be removed once data is collected and processed.

  • Research programme

The research team intends to carry out research using Machine learning and artificial intelligence to aid the diagnosis and interpretation of neuroimaging in stroke. The team consist of stroke physicians, radiologists and computer scientists. The database will provide the large amount of data required to train computer models that analyze clinical imaging. We hope this will lead to software that can be used to aid radiologists and physicians diagnosis and management of strokes and ICH. This research may additionally lead to better understanding of how stroke affects the brain with the aid of computer analysis.
