  • Research summary

Women can develop tumours in the female genital tract organs at any age including child bearing age. The treatment of these tumours may result in compromising fertility. However, in some situations there are fertility sparing options for tumour management. In this study we will be inviting women who have developed gynaecological tumour while in their child bearing age to participate into a survey. The aim of this survey is to get a clearer view of the women’s knowledge, attitudes, and decision-making processes with relation to fertility preservation. Women who had been diagnosed principally with endometrial, cervical, or ovarian cancer will be invited to participate in the survey with the purpose of collecting comprehensive data on patients' knowledge of options for fertility preservation, the volume and sources of information that was available to them, perceived obstacles to obtaining fertility preservation, and the influence of fertility concerns on their treatment decisions and psychological state, and the overall outcomes of that. Patients invited to participate in the survey will be offered a patient information sheet and consent form. The survey will be done electronically, and the survey responses will be carefully collated and analysed, offering insightful information that will be most helpful in planning the required assistance of women in this situation.
