  • Research summary

3% are affected by excessive armpit sweating which reduces quality of life. Subcutaneous botox is the current “Gold Standard” treatment. Its disadvantages are it works for less than a year, the multiple painful injections, the need for trained clinicians and the cost. Retrodermal axillary curettage is a day-case, local anesthetic surgical option to remove the sweat glands from behind the armpit skin and so reduced sweating. This study will compare the effectiveness of the two treatments.
