Research summary
Patients seen in the orthopaedic outpatient clinic with a diagnosis of frozen shoulder will be invited to partake in this study. Patients will be randomised to receive a steroid injection into either the affected shoulder joint or adjacent to the suprascapular nerve on the affected side (nerve next to the shoulder blade). Patients will then be reviewed at 3, 6 and 12 months after injection (face-to-face at 3 months and remote questionnaires at 6 and 12 months) and their shoulder symptoms will be assessed in terms of pain, movement and function. Statistical analysis will then be performed to see if there is any difference in terms of outcomes between the two injections given.
