Research summary
This is a small cohort of c1800 workers from the British glass reinforced plastics industry that has never previously been separately analysed. Our intention is to compare the mortality and cancer incidence rates in the workforce with that of the general population of England and Wales. We also wish to make our data available to researchers at the University of Aarhus in Denmark for a pooled international study of workers occupational exposed to styrene. This part of the proposal is subject to the international study being funded. We are primarily interested in lymphatic and haematopoietic cancers and lung cancer.
