Research summary
Birmingham and Solihull sexual health services have identified a improving the return rate of STI self-test kits (for multiple STI screening) as a priority area. There is currently limited research on identifying the barriers to returning STI home sampling kits requested directly by self-initiating patients.
This study aims to explore patient views and perspectives, a qualitative approach will be adopted. Telephone interviews, a data collection method well suited for participants with limited time and/or are difficult to engage in traditional research modes, will be conducted with STI self-sampling test kits non-returnees. In addition, optional online focus groups will be undertaken to explore the barriers identified in the interviews.REC name
