Research summary
The purpose of the research is to interview key people (stakeholders) to find out what they think about the idea of pharmacy technicians giving out (administering) medicine on mental health inpatient wards. The stakeholders involved would be service users, nurses, pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, doctors and senior managers.
The questions asked would be around what they think of the idea, what they feel the benefits or the problems might be, and if they think that any additional training or procedures would need to be put in place. This information will be helpful to us in suggesting or designing service developments including technician involvement in medicines administration, that can be piloted on the wards in future.
