    Research Summary

There is a growing number of people across Europe living with heart failure (HF), yet limited healthcare resources are available to meet all their needs. SANACOACH-HF will provide information to patients on their heart failure condition, ongoing treatment and required lifestyle modification, enabling them to be self-caring. All patients who attend the Belfast Trust Heart Failure service and meet the inclusion criteria, will be invited to participate. Consented, eligible participants will use the SanaCoach heart failure device, in addition to standard of care for the duration of at least 6 months. Data will be collected on patients' use of the device, their satisfaction as well as quality of life, self-care and adherence over the 6 month period.

    Summary of Results

A total of 128 patients with heart failure were recruited to use the e-health device called Sanacoach for 26 weeks. During this period 34 patients withdrew their consent and 4 patients died. From the patients who completed the study in full, most were positive about the integration of the e-health device into their heart failure management. Disadvantages reported were challenges logging in, length of sessions and the repetitiveness of several information sessions. Any feedback received by the patients from the device was valued, such as an indication symptoms were stable. Patients reported a willingness to use the device in the future.
