Research summary
The study aims to develop and trial a sensitive tool to assess adolescents with allergies understanding of their allergies and allergy management. The tool is designed to highlight areas of allergy management that may require support during the process of transition through to the point of accessing adult services. The tool aims to highlight areas of allergy management that may require support throughout the adolescents period of being cared for by paediatric services.
Paediatric allergy specialists, adolescents with allergies and their parents and UK Allergy Charities have been asked what questions they feel should be included in the questionnaire, from these suggestions and with consideration of the literature, including the National Institute of Clinical Excellence Guidelines for Transition a questionnaire has been devised with support from the student's supervisory team. It is proposed that this questionnaire could be trialled on a cohort of adolescents who attend a routine allergy appointment,to assess the questionnaire's acceptability and readability.REC name
