Research summary
This is a randomised controlled trial looking at the different ways patients with hand fractures that have required an operation to securely fix the broken bones (open reduction internal fixation) can be managed after the operation. There are two arms to the study: 1 group of patients will have their hand immobilised after the operation with a cast, 1 group will freely mobilise without a cast. We will compare outcomes in the two groups.
