Research summary
We are looking to see whether the use of shockwave therapy (a treatment that uses high energy pulses to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions) is acceptable to patients with a spinal cord injury for the treatment of spasticity (increased in stiffness or tightness of the muscles caused by damage to brain or spinal cord). Spasticity can often hinder an individuals abilitiy to walk. We are looking to see whether shockwave therapy can reduce the level of stiffness in the muscles to help with ease of walking.
