Research summary
The purposes of this study are I) to determine the characteristics of the tumour cells that can predict clinical outcome of patients with lymphomas and leukaemias, ii) to provide biological material to clinicians and scientists who participate to the activity of the "South Coast Tissue Bank" through a centralised rigorous scientific and ethical review process, iii) to perform a panel of established tests on those patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia and lymphoproliferative disorders. This will enable researchers to request those samples most suitable for their research. This study will provide a unique source of tumour cells from patients, of which long longitudinal follow up. The project will have the potential of discovering and validation characteristics that distinguish less aggressive tumours and more aggressive tumours and may offer the possibility of the development of a diagnostic tests.
