  • Research summary

Hospitals can be noisy places. Unpleasant or unexpected noise can make us feel nervous and can interfere with sleep or resting, both of which are vital to recovery.
After brain injury (ABI, e.g. head injury or stroke), patients often spend time in different wards with different noise levels. We are keen to explore the noise environments where people with ABI may be looked after. We want to measure the noise levels but also find out what the effects of the noise are on patients, their relatives, and staff, and see how we could improve things.
