Research summary
The purpose of this study is to investigate the benefits of reflexology in people with End-Stage Kidney Disease receiving haemodialysis. The research will incorporate a mixed methods approach combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches. A sample of 20 patients will be recruited to the study, patients will be offered a reflexology session three times a week for half an hour for a period of four weeks (12 sessions). The intervention will be provided by a trained reflexologist. Data will be collected immediately before the reflexology session and again one month after the intervention has been completed. The parameters which we will be measuring before and after the intervention will be quality of life and sleep quality. Following completion of the intervention qualitative semi-structured interviews will be completed with 10 participants to elicit personal experiences.
