Research summary
This is an exploratory cross-sectional qualitative study involving focus groups with children and young people in care, their foster carers, and staff from residential childcare facilities. The study will examine their experiences and views of social activities young people attend weekly; either choir or football. It is proposed that there will be six focus groups involving a total of up to 16 children/young people and 16 carers (defined as residential social workers/ social care workers or foster carers. The focus groups will be designed as follows:
• 1 focus group with 4 children/ young people who attend choir (Age 8-15)
• 1 focus group with 4 children/ young people who attend choir (Age16-19)
• 1 focus group with 4 children/young people who attend football (Age 12-15)
• 1 focus group with 4 children/young people who attend football (Age 16-18)
• 1 focus group with 8 carers of children/young people attending choir
• 1 focus group with 8 carers of children/young people attending footballREC name
