Research summary
The prevalence of impacted upper canine (“eye“) teeth is a common orthodontic problem. Making treatment decisions in these cases can often be difficult and in many cases several management options are available. This study aims to assess any possible differences in the smile aesthetics that may exist between the different treatment options that are available for the treatment of a palatally impacted upper canine tooth as perceived by dental professionals, orthodontic patients and their parents. This study will also aim to assess whether the choice of treatment option by the patient and parent groups is influenced by the additional information of overall treatment time.
