  • Research summary

This study is to investigate the efficiency of a newly-developed skin protection (3MTMCavilonTM high-performance skin protectant) in comparison to current standard therapy.
With the application of this product on the skin, a long-lasting, waterproof and resilient film is formed that protects the skin against moisture and the irritants contained in the body excretions. This allows the regeneration of the skin below the film.
Patients recruited to this study will be over the age of 18 and diagnosed with incontinence-associated dermatitis.
Eligible patients will already be in hospital for an in-patient stay of a minimum of 7 days and receive daily visits from a study nurse to assess and apply the study device or placebo and undertake questionnaires regarding their pain and have photo's taken of the affected area.
