  • Research summary

With a team of experts including representatives from the UK Inhaler Group and Asthma UK we have developed a minimum set of instructions for optimal inhaler technique when use in conjunction with a spacer device. These have been shortened into 'The six steps for spacer success'. We have developed pictograms and simple instructions for children and adults using spacer devices with and without masks. We now wish to receive feedback on these from patients, parents and carers.

We plan to obtain this using a simple questionaire that can be administered in clinic. At the same time we will take feedback from the doctor or nurse who trained the individual. We will use this feedback to refine the educational materials before proceeding to studies of their effectiveness.
