  • Data collection arrangements

Samples will be stored at the Sheffield Biorepository, a HTA licensed facility run by the University of Sheffield Medical School. Informed consent will be obtained for collection of research samples of blood and bone marrow aspirate at the time of sampling for clinical care and for access to material which is surplus to requirements for clinical care.

  • Research programme

The aim of the bank is to facilitate access to tissue for basic and translational research into the causes, complications and therapy of myeloid disorders with the ultimate aim of improving treatment for patients with these disorders. It is anticipated that the majority of the work done using samples from the bank will be carried out within the laboratories of the SHiMR researchers and SHiMR collaborators who are based within the Yorkshire and Trent region. However, researchers from outside these groups can also apply to use samples, with all internal and external applications assessed for their alignment to the aims of the bank.
