Data collection arrangements
The database will contain information from clinical records, outpatient clinic visits and clinical studies of cognitive impairment patients. All patients who attend(ed) the Royal Hallamshire Hospital will be eligible for inclusion on the database. Details of patient disease progression and clinical care will be documented on the database and following death will remain on the system for use in research.
The Dementia Care Team plan to get retrospective consent for current patients who are already on the database and no data will be used for research purposes until consent is given.
In the future, the PIS and consent forms will be presented to the patients in clinic early on in the disease course. The patient will be entered on to the database for clinical use regardless of consent, however their data will not be used for research unless consent has been given.
Research programme
The database will support the dementia research community in Sheffield and their collaborators. Any outcomes of the research will provide information to improve the care and treatment of dementia patients.
