Research summary
This 6 month research study (with 7 sites) is nested within an existing quality improvement project that aims to scale up Shared Haemodialysis Care (SHC) to 19 dialysis centres across the United Kingdom. SHC is where patients who receive haemodialysis (HD) at dialysis centres are given the opportunity to learn some of the tasks associated with their treatment and as a result co-deliver their care.
This enhanced person centred care is intended to improve the experience for those who choose to dialyse at hospital, and give more patients the confidence to select home dialysis leading to a better quality of life, aligning with NICE guidance.
This study will carry out telephone or face-to-face interviews with people receiving haemodialysis to validate current findings and to test and refine hypotheses developed during the main study.
