Research summary
This study is based on the hypothesis that for people who undertake haemodialysis at dialysis centres benefit from the opportunity to take a greater role in their own care. We are planning a 2 year study in 600 patients at 12 dialysis centres across England. The study will collect of information from the completion of questionnaires at regular intervals. They will include : the number of dialysis related tasks that patients perform for themselves, measures of patient activation, quality of life, and symptom scores, as well as cognitive function, health literacy perception around self-needling, and health economic indicators.
The protocol describes the data collection, database linkage and qualitative evaluation necessary to answer the research questions that are outlined in A 10 and A 11.REC name
