Research summary
The sexual health of adults is of great concern nationally.Cheshire West and Chester is an area of the country with several poor sexual health indicators including teenage pregnancy and chalmydia diagnoses in 15-24 year olds which are significantly worse than the national average.
Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Local Authority (Public Health) has commissioned Liverpool John Moores University to conduct a Needs Assessment research study on the sexual health of adults living in the Vale Royal CCG area. Vale Royal Clinical Commissioning Group intends to use information from the study to identify
gaps and opportunities to enhance health services in the locality. There is concern that seldom heard and more vulnerable population groups are experiencing higher risk of poor sexual health, while often falling outside the focus of current health services. Thus, in addition to gathering information from service users and adults in the general population, focus group/interview discussions will provide a chance for a smaller group of volunteers from key marginalised groups to discuss in depth topics of interest relating to their sexual health.
