  • Research summary

This project aims to refine and strengthen a programme of sex and relationship education for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) in the care of Brighton and Hove Local Authority. The research team will carry out a preliminary evaluation and explore the potential benefit and appropriate methods of conducting a full evaluation. The project aims to create a guide that will document the aims, processes, content and outcomes for six sessions of sex and relationship education. The content of the guide will include information about who should deliver the sessions, where and how they should be best offered, what the intended outcomes and benefits are and the method of evaluating the programme.
(UASC - The UASC referred to in this document are all aged 16 and 17 years old)

UASC aged 16 and 17, foster carers, key-workers and social workers will be invited to focus groups. Six to eight participants will make up each group. The groups will discuss themes around sex and relationship knowledge, hopes for learning and the potential for behaviour change.
