Data collection arrangements
Blood samples will be collected and processed at the RUH. Routinely collected data such as patient reported outcome measures and radiology results will also be collected.
Health relevant information e.g. medical history, new diagnoses, interactions with healthcare services, will be collected and stored.Participants who donated serum samples and/or data to the Bath CTD Cohort study and CTD Future Studies amendment, will be re-consented to transfer their samples and/or data to the new biobank.
The investigators will retain the samples and data indefinitely to be used in CTD research initiatives, unless participants choose to withdraw and request destruction of previously contributed samples and data.
Research programme
Drs Flower, Korendowych, Skeoch and Tansley are all established and current researchers in the field of autoimmune rheumatic diseases, with close connections to academic centres. We wish to continue our work at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Bath, as well as collaborative projects with other experts in the field, to advance the understanding of biological markers, disease course and outcomes of patients with autoimmune rheumatic disease. Data and samples collected in the biobank may be used in further research and therefore shared with other researchers. Any data that is shared will be coded using a unique study identification number and will not identify the participant by name, NHS number, hospital number, address or contact numbers.
