Research summary
The University of Strathclyde is working in partnership with NHS Highland and NHS Lanarkshire on an innovative research project called SEISMIC SHIFT that seeks to map the ecosystem of pathways that support signposting, diagnosis, treatment and ultimately prevention of breathlessness symptoms for patients in the NHS Highland and NHS Lanarkshire regions. This mapping work will then inform workshops and systems engineers that aim to suggest new ways of supporting patients with breathlessness conditions.
A series of 90-minute online workshops will be run to construct a shared overview of current care pathways and potential changes to pathways for primary care (e.g. GPs), secondary care (e.g. hospital wards) and other services (e.g. community care) that support patients with these symptoms. NHS staff, associated care staff, patients and carers will be involved in the workshops.
