Research summary
This early study assesses whether using an on-line App is feasible and practical to use in adolescent and adult patients with cystic fibrosis and accurately assesses anxiety, depression and quality of life. Historically patients have been diagnosed by clinical symptoms and their ability to share their concerns and feelings regarding their mental health with their clinician. Paper based screening tools have also been used. The development of an on-line app aims to identify patients with and at risk of anxiety, depression and poor quality of life and enable them to self-monitor their symptoms over time. This early feasibility study firstly evaluates functionality and usability of the app, secondly whether the questions devised are the most appropriate questions to use, and thirdly whether the on-line app agrees with measures in established paper based screening tools
