Data collection arrangements
Following approval to access NHS Scotland administrative data the Public Health Scotland eDRIS team will collate the data requested from data controllers or custodians. The data is linked and provisioned in a secure analytical environment known as the Scottish National Safe Haven. The data provided to researchers is pseudo-anonymised and any analytical outputs reviewed before release from the National Safe Haven. Examples of data that may be requested for research projects include hospital admissions, prescribing or deaths.
Research programme
The Scottish National Safe Haven, managed by Public Health Scotland, supports all research projects where the data controller has given permission to access NHS Scotland administrative data.
