Research summary
Saliva contains most of the same proteins and nucleic acid markers that can be found in blood. The central challenge to using saliva as a diagnostic matrix is that these markers are generally present at much lower concentrations. Vidya has developed ultrasensitive measurement technology, with single molecule sensitivity which enables very low levels of molecular marker to be quantified. The heart of the technology is a sandwich assay format, miniaturised within a microfluidic device and analysed with single molecule sensitivity. \nThis is a proof of concept study. Participants will donate saliva for a range of conditions along with age/stage matched healthy donors. The aim is to show statistical significance in our ability to distinguish samples from healthy vs diagnosed samples. Samples will be collected from donors with a range of conditions including but not limited to cancers, liver and kidney conditions, diabetes, pregnancy related conditions, cardiovascular, inflammatory and infectious conditions and conditions of the oral cavity.\n
