  During my placement, I reflected on the frequency and nature of safeguarding referrals for vulnerable adults under self-neglect (Care Act, 2014). I reflected on how this information is constructed to inform social work practice. This research aims to address the gaps in knowledge and discover the dimensions and predictors of self-neglect behaviours. This research will work towards a practice model that operationalises self-neglect so that social workers can recognise the risk dimensions and how particular explanatory variables impact on those risks.
