Research summary
The purpose of this study is to
• Collect information about people who have retinal degeneration caused by mutations in the USH2A gene of their DNA
• Learn about the traits of these people
• Study what happens to their eyes and their vision over timeWe hope to use this information to design studies for future treatments of people with USH2A related retinal degeneration.
To take part in this study, you must be or have the following:
• Retinal degeneration caused by mutations in the USH2A gene of your DNA
• Be willing and able to complete/sign a consent form
• Be able to return for all study visits over four years
• Be at least eight years old
• Have eyes in which photographic imaging is possible
• Be able to do the tests for the studyThe study is taking place at about 20 different medical locations throughout the United States and other countries.
The study will last for 4 years.
