Research summary
Ectopic pregnancy is a potentially life-threatening condition, but selected cases can be managed expectantly if the likelihood of spontaneous resolution is high. Currently, hCG dynamics guide management decisions, yet outcomes remain variable. Progesterone, a marker of corpus luteum function and early pregnancy viability, may provide complementary predictive value. This study aims to assess whether baseline serum progesterone and/or hCG levels can reliably identify patients likely to have successful expectant management, using retrospectively collected clinical data.
