Research summary
This is an exploratory study to assess the effect of RV challenge in patients with mild to moderate COPD. The proposed study will investigate the safety of RV challenge in COPD and its effect on symptoms, lung function and biological changes in the blood and the airways. This study is being carried out to see if Rhinovirus can be used to model exacerbations in COPD patients. It is hope this will enable new COPD drugs that target the airway inflammation exacerbated by the Rhinovirus to be assessed. The outcome from this study may help determine the use of this test in
future research studies.REC name
