Research summary
The purpose of the study is to determine whether the composition of our microbiome (the usually harmless collection of microbes that exist within our bodies) is different in people with rheumatoid arthritis from people without arthritis and whether this is altered after different arthritis drug treatment. Patients who have previously given samples of blood or joint fluid for a genetics study in rheumatoid arthritis will be approached to see if we can use their remainder samples for this new study. Through this study we hope to improve our understanding of rheumatoid arthritis and how it might be better treated.
