Research summary
Tonsillectomy is a common procedure. Pain after surgery is expected, but up to 1 in 6 people require readmission. It is not clear why readmission rate is so high. This study aims to measure resilience in patients having tonsillectomy, with a view to determining whether resilience is a factor in readmission. Resilience is a modifiable factor, so that future studies could provide resilience training as a means of helping reduce post-operative problems.
