  • Data collection arrangements

The register will allow us to collect and record cardiac and genetic information about patients and families of inherited cardiac condition/cardiomyopathy services. The aim is be able to use this information for research studies, to increase our understanding of these conditions. We also use the register to identify people with specific conditions, so that we can invite them for further research in future.
Data of interest includes results of echocardiogram and electrocardiographs, which members of the family are affected by the condition and the gene change (if any) found in the family. This information is collected as part of patients' routine care. On occasion we may ask for a repeat test for research purposes.

  • Research programme

The database supports research in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Oxford. The results of studies undertaken may be of benefit to individuals and families seen by inherited heart condition/cardiomyopathy services.
