  • Research summary

This study aims to better understand the recovery from anaesthesia following shoulder key-hole surgery (arthroscopy) performed under regional anaesthesia (an interscalene nerve block). Such surgery is very commonly performed in the UK and does not require a general anaesthetic. This study will not change anything about the surgery or anaesthetic, but will use interviews and clinical examinations before and after the operation to better understand the patient experience. It will quantitative (relating to numbers such as pain scores out of 10) and qualitative (asking how how the patient feels and recording this information) methods to do this.
